Mixed content

Updated Feb 9, 2026

Definition

Mixed content occurs when an HTTPS page loads sub-resources (images, scripts, stylesheets) over insecure HTTP.

Plain English

Your page is secure, but some of its files aren't. Browsers may block them or show warnings.

Why it matters

  • Browsers block or warn about insecure sub-resources.
  • It undermines the security benefits of HTTPS.
  • Can cause broken images, scripts, or styles on otherwise secure pages.
